Harold Seymour
North Sydney
It is with great sorrow and broken hearts we mourn the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all, Harold Seymour, on March 14, 2024, at the age of 85. Dad passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at his side.
Born in Burnt Islands, Newfoundland, on January 22, 1939. Harold was the son of the late Percy and Melinda (Keeping) Seymour. Dad leaves to mourn his son Hilton (Margaret) Seymour, Middleton, N.S., his daughter MaryLynn (Clarence) MacIntyre, North Sydney, granddaughters Amanda (Anthony) Zadeh, Lynsey MacIntyre(Dave Walker) and Kerri Seymour, his grandson Lucas MacIntyre (Courtney Whitty), great-grandsons, Nathan and Bodhi Walker, great-granddaughter Cecilia Zadeh, his sister Maisie (Allen) Strickland, sister in law Lavinia Seymour and brother in law Max Croucher, also numerous nephews and nieces who loved uncle Earl dearly, and several cousins.
In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by his loving wife, Nellie, of 59 years, three sisters, Winnifred, Hilda, and Trifina, one brother, Clayton, one sister-in-law, and one brother-in-law.
Harold taught school in the Brunt Islands before moving to North Sydney. There, he worked many years at Nickerson’s fish plant, Good People Sea & Shore, and Vernon d’Eon until he was 80. At work, he made many great friends.
Dad had a strong faith and was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church. His greatest joy in life was his family, and he truly enjoyed every moment spent with them. He was a great hockey fan and loved watching anyone play, especially his grandson Lucas. He always had a joke to tell to brighten anyone’s day.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Ryan Kelly and Dr. Colin Bonnar, the staff on 4C, and the sitters from Osprey, who showed attentive care and compassion to Dad in his final days.
A visitation will be held at Jobes Funeral Home on Monday, March 18, 2024, from 6 pm to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 11 am at St. John’s Anglican Church in North Sydney. Donations can be made to St. John’s Anglican Church or a charity of your choice.
