Music by The Piano Brothers

Ronald James Roland
Alder Point

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Ronald James Roland, age 70, on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born on October 31,1949, he was the son of the late Buddy and Sadie (Bungay) Roland of Alder Point.
Ronnie was a 'Jack of all Trades', a skilled carpenter, and had many interests in life. He especially enjoyed his love of music and enjoyed his time playing guitar with the St. Anne's Choir in Alder Point.  He was an avid fisherman, spending many years fishing alongside his Dad aboard the Roseann Elizabeth, and most recently on the Jennysue with his son Ronnie.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife Lisa, his daughter Patricia (Steve Taylor) Scotch Lake and his son, Ronnie (Heidi) Sydney Mines.
Also left to mourn are his grandchildren, Miley and Ally Taylor, Hayley, Mitchell, Jaden, Mikayla, and Dylan Roland and Jillian and Zoey Hawkins.
Ronnie was the oldest of 10 siblings, who he loved dearly:
Gloria (Billy) Jessome, Susie Alders, Karmie Steele (Blaine), Gary (Cindy), Cathy (John) Spikes, Reg (Marie), Kevin (Kate), Roseann (Dwayne) MacDonald, and Jennifer (Trevor) Buffett.
He will forever be in the hearts and missed by his many nieces and nephews, as well as his in-laws David and Leona Tobin, and his brothers-in-law, Blair, Scott (Suzanne), and Darrell (Denise) Tobin and special sister-in-law Wendy.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by infant brothers Richard and James, and brother-in-law Harvey Steele.
Visitation for Ronnie will take place Sunday, November 10, 2019,  from 2-4 & 7-9 pm in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.  A funeral mass to celebrate Ronnie's life will be held Monday 2 pm in St. Anne’s Church, Alder Point with Father Peter McLeod officiating. The burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Bras d'Or.
The family would like to take this time to thank the staff of 4B, CBRH, and the staff of 4W of Northside General Hospital, along with Dr. Andrew Wawer, and Dr. Jean Ferguson for their exceptional care and compassion. Special thank you to his niece Carrie for being there when we couldn’t. Family flowers only please. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ronnie’s name to the Feral and Abandoned Cat Society of CB, or to our local SPCA. Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at

“How lucky we are to have known and loved someone who was so hard to say goodbye to.”
