Mary “Carol” MacKinnon
St. Margaret’s Village

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Carol MacKinnon, age 72, on Thursday, March 5, 2020, after a long battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Born March 16. 1947, she was the daughter of the late Robert (Bob) and Mary Alice (Capstick) MacDonald.
In her early life, she worked in Morrison’s Restaurant. Mom ran a Bed and Breakfast for 10 years, where she enjoyed meeting new people and friends. She also enjoyed making homemade bread and many meals for whoever entered her door. She then worked with her late husband D. A., as a fisherwoman, which she loved. She was a devoted member of St. Margaret of Scotland parish in St. Margaret’s Village. She was a devoted mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
“Carol” is survived by her daughters Lizzie MacKinnon, Shirley MacKinnon, Tellie MacKinnon, and Charlene Joudrey (Kevin. She also leaves behind grandchildren Perry, John Duncan, Owen, Richard, Ryan, Anika, Olivia, Dakota, and C.J (Golden) Conley (Cassie),  great-grandchildren Hank, Andy, Allister, Andrea, Marcel, Nyha and Ciro, Summer and  Carter,  sisters Joyce, Anna (Stanley), Pauline (Storm), and brothers Ronald and Tommy (Beatrice).
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband D.A. MacKinnon, sister Lois MacDonald, and brother Freddie Capstick.
Special thanks to the Palliative Care, workers, who came every day. Also, Dr. Ritter and the staff of Hatcher and Anderson Pharmacy, Neil’s Harbour, who all made Moms journey easier.
Special thanks also to angels Abigail MacKinnon and Cathy MacMullin, for always being there for us. Your love and kindness will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to NOS Palliative Care, or the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the family home at 40 MacDonald Rd., St. Margaret’s Village, Saturday, March 7, 2020, after 7 pm. The funeral Mass will take place on Monday, at 2 pm in St. Margaret’s of Scotland Church, with Fr. Alphonsus Iwuji officiating. A reception will take place at the family home following the Mass.
