Daniel Sidney “Sid” MacNeil
Bras d’Or

It is with great sadness that we the family of the late Daniel Sidney “Sid” MacNeil announces his passing after a brief illness on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the tender age of 85 with his family by his side.
Born in Bras d’Or, he was the son of the late Nathan and Theresa (Boutilier) MacNeil.

Sid, being a First Class Stationary Engineer, Machinist and with many other certificates was well known for his mechanical skills. Sid was known for his oil delivery/heating services and Machine Shop business. He was also known for giving a helping hand whether it was in the oil business or the machine shop. He enjoyed his time out on the Bras d’Or Lakes, sports and building things on his own such as his boat the Bras d’Or Queen and other recreational equipment that his family and other enjoyed.

Sid is survived by his children Blair (Dawn), Gerard (Dawn), Theresa (Brian) and Glenn Howard (Catherine) and by his loving grandchildren Kyle, Alyssa, Ryan, Jaclyn, Sydney and Danielle. He is also survived by his brother Freeman (Doreen) MacNeil and sister Joan (Allison) Young and nephew Kelly, nieces Brenda and Leanne and sister in law Germaine MacNeil. He is predeceased by the mother of his children Dorothy (Serroul) MacNeil, brother Howard MacNeil, sister Eileen (MacNeil) (Keith) Lovett and niece Arleen MacNeil.

Visitation for the late Sid MacNeil will be from 2:00 to 4:00 Friday November 23, 2018 at JM Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St, Sydney Mines. A Funeral Mass to celebrate his life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday November 24, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Church, Bras d’Or with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating. A reception will follow at the Pensioners Hall in Bras d’Or. Burial to take place in the Spring. Memorial donations may be made to charity of your choice.
