Glenn Henry Sexton
George’s River

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Glenn Henry Sexton on Monday December 3, 2018 at the Northside Guest Home.
Born in Sydney Mines on December 27, 1941, he was the youngest child of the late Henry and Maisie (Davis) Sexton.
Glenn graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 1966 with his Bachelor of Arts followed by his Bachelor of Education in 1967.  He began his teaching career at Florence High School, followed by Bras d'Or High and finished his teaching career at Dr. T.L. Sullivan after thirty years.  He also taught Driver's Education for thirty years to many happy sixteen year olds.  He loved playing sports in his younger years, and watching the Blue Jays and Montreal Canadians in his later times.
He is survived by his devoted wife Brenda Sexton (Devoe), his son Curtis, daughter-in-law Colette, daughter Lianna and son-in-law Dennis, as well as his six grandsons: Ryan and Logan Martin, London, Ronan, Jacob and Liam Sexton.  He is also survived by his sister Eleanor Marks, and in laws: Martha Sexton, Joyce and Doug Poole, Angie and Jackie MacNeil, Mabel and Gerald D'Eon, Lorraine and Gerard Doyle, Jane and Gary McNeil, Brian and Jane Devoe, Jimmy McGrath, along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Glenn was predeceased by his brother Howard, sister-in-law Margaret, sister Barbara and brother-in-law Mark Carey, brother Orville, brothers-in-law George Marks and Kevin Devoe, and sister-in-law Bev McGrath.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of Cara House at the Northside Guest Home and Dr. Peter Poulos for their care and compassion.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, from 6-9 p.m. at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main St., Sydney Mines.  The Funeral Service will be held at Carman United Church Thursday, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall after the service.
Donations in Glenn’s memory may be made to a local food bank or charity of choice.  Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com

My sincere condolences to the family of my special teacher Mr.Sexton. He was a gifted teacher and a fine human being. He had the ability to see past the clumsy adolescent to who the person could be. He was there when I needed him most. I am grateful for that.
