HALL, Mary Elizabeth (McIntyre)
Sydney Mines
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our treasured mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Mary Elizabeth Hall, 87, on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Bras d’Or, April 30, 1931, Mary was the daughter of the late John and Hilda (Jessome) McIntyre.
After marrying the love of her life, Clifford, they created a life focused on family. As a homemaker, a wife, and a mother, she was strong, capable and tireless. Always supportive, encouraging, wise and kind, she was so proud of the family she kept. Mary had a very strong faith in God and was devoted to the Catholic Church. She was a charitable woman with countless hours spent volunteering with The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul and was a proud member of the Catholic Women’s League at the Immaculate Conception Parish.
She and Cliff would host weekly Sunday dinners for the family; and while he would get the praise for the spaghetti and meatballs, she was the glue that held everything together. She had a great sense of humor and her quick wit was unmatched. She loved music and was always the first one on the dance floor, even as recently as earlier this month. Mary will be remembered as a selfless woman who always had a smile. She had a quiet strength and never complained. Always graceful, until God called her home.

Mary is survived by loving daughters, Judy Hall, Sydney Mines and Lynn (Sheldon) Marinelli, Georges River; sons, Brian (Nancy), Ottawa, Wayne (Gail), Lloyd (Mary), Gary (Gail), Eddy (Donna), all of Bras d’Or, Glen (Yvonne), Leitches Creek; her grandchildren, Shawn, Shera, Lloyd, Callista, Jennifer, Michael, Mitchell, Jeffery, Kyle, Ryan, Josh, Marissa, Beth, Mary Ann, and Connor and her great-grandchildren, Grace, Lucas, Kailee, Leeland, Greta, Mallory, Jaxon, Sadie, Emma, Rosalie and Frankie. Also left to mourn are her sisters, Marguerite (Bill) McInnis, NB, Madonna Romeo, Sydney Mines, and Phyllis Erickson, Sydney; brothers, Gordon (Vennie), PEI, and Douglas (Liette), BC; sisters-in-law, Brenda and Marie; her caregiver and granddaughter-in-law, Wendy Morrison, Gordon (Mucker) McMahon whom she considered a son, special friends and neighbours Peter and Denise Northen and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, of 62 years, Clifford Hall; daughter-in-law, Sheila; grandson, Brent; brothers, Terry, Jackie, James, Thomas and John in infancy; sister-in-law, Gwen; brothers-in-law, Lewis Romeo and Victor Erickson.

Visitation for Mary Hall will be held in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, Wednesday, February 27, 2019, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church on Thursday, February 28, 2019, at 10 a.m. with Fr. James Oliver officiating. Burial to take place at a later date. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of one’s choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

To our dear second family.
We so saddened to learn of your mother’s passing. Our childhoods were intertwined and we felt so much a part of your lives that we could have been siblings.
Although we were not family in the biological sense, we could not have loved your parents more had they been our own.
Mary was so positive, generous and loving. Whenever we arrived home to find the doors open, we knew that our mother must be next door with her dear friend. Love surrounded your home and we were so very blessed to have had the opportunity to be part of that love.
Although it breaks our hearts to be so far away and unable to attend the funeral, our thoughts and prayers are with you; now and always.
In sympathy and love,
Sharon and Cathy (Gillis)

Brian, Nancy and family,

Mary was a very kind, warm and gentle person who welcomed us into her home with open arms. We enjoyed meeting your parents and spending some time getting to know them both. The diners were wonderful, the company was even better.
Hold onto to all the great memories.
Deepest condolences. Love Sharon, Robert, Alex and Andrea Way

On behalf of the Doyle family from King Street in Sydney mines I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the Hall family. Mary was a strong woman in both physical strength and character. She was a hard worker along side her sisters in the CWL catering to the many celebrations at the Knights of Columbus. Memories of her chocolate coconut squares will always make my mouth water. I hope these memories shared of her life help ease your sorrow. She was a lovely kind lady. We will remember you all in our prayers.
