Roderick Ephriam Seymour
Neil’s Harbour

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Roddie, our loving husband, father, and grandfather, on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, after a courageous ten-month battle with esophageal cancer.
Born in Halifax on July 2, 1951, he was the only son of Ann (Boydon) Seymour and the late Ephriam Seymour.
Roddie worked for many years with Highland Ambulance Service at Buchanan Memorial Hospital, then on to security guard / housekeeping with them. This past six years he worked and retired from Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board as cleaner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Ivy (Briand), son Brian, daughter-in-law Katherine, and daughter Corinne. He also leaves behind his three precious grandchildren; Alexis, Logan and Coleman Seymour, mother Ann (Russell Lindsay), sisters Sylvia, Kentville, Carol, Dartmouth, foster sisters Janice, an Irma (Beaton MacDougall), and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Besides his father Ephriam, he was predeceased by his foster parents, Freeman and Marion Seymour, and his sister Veronica.
Special thanks to Dr. Khodad and the nurses at the Cancer Center, who made his journey so much easier. Also, to Dr. John Ritter and his nurse, Wanda Barron, who were his guardian angels, and showed so much compassion and care. Thank you to Dr. Buffett, Dr. Murray, Gordon Simms, and all the staff at Buchanan Memorial, and his home care nurses. You were very special to both of us.
In keeping with Roddie’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. The burial will be at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Palliative Care at Buchanan Memorial Hospital. Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at

“Til we meet again, my love.”
