Patricia Lynn (Patti) Edwards
Sydney Mines

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Patricia Lynn (Patti) Edwards, 60, of Sydney Mines, on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the Northside General Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Patti was born December 23, 1958; the daughter of Jean Edwards and the late Clarence Edwards. She worked at McDonalds Restaurants in Sydney and North Sydney for almost 40 years, and made many close and dear friends; both colleagues and customers.
Patti was well known for her bubbly personality, her love for everyone and her attendance at community events throughout Cape Breton.
Patti is survived by her mother Jean, brother Bob (Norma), son Jason (Martina) and grandson Landon.
There will be a visitation at Jobes Funeral Home in Sydney Mines on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, from 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be held at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 3 Queen Street, Sydney Mines on Wednesday at 2 pm with Rev. Marion Barclay MacKay officiating. A reception will follow in the church.
A private interment will take place in Brookside Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Patti’s memory may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com

So sorry to hear of Patti Lynn's death, condolences to the family. I didn't realize Patti Lynn wasn't doing good until Dave called me a week or so ago. Patti Lynn and I tried to keep in contact over the years, especially during birthdays and Christmas which wasn't often enough. We really reconnected during our Anthony Family Reunion 20+ years ago. Which I could attend her memorial service but it's just not possible. Cherish the memories you have made over the years. God bless you all.

Dear Jean. Our hearts break for your loss. Patti had such a big heart, beautiful smile, and a genuine caring for the people she came across in the run of her day. She so often lifted people's spirits with no apparent effort to do so - just part of her sweet nature. We count ourselves blessed to have known her and sincerely feel that the world is a better place for Patti being part of it. Our condolences to you and the rest of the family who she held close to her heart.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Patti's passing. We both had the great pleasure of working with Patti at McDonald's many years ago. Every time we would run into her, she would always fill us in on how many of the "old" crew were doing. She was such a great person with a wonderful personality. She had the ability to make everyone around her smile. Our condolences go out to all of her family and many friends during this difficult time.

My deepest condolences. Patti was always a delight - a breath of fresh air. She had an ability to make everyone feel comfortable and accepted. She trained me how to host parties and work the register when I was nine, which I'm sure required infinite patience, but she always made everything feel so possible with her ready encouragement. Since leaving Cape Breton, whenever I'd come home and would visit McDonald's it was always an extra good visit if I got to see Patti. I know for customers that was always the case, too. She made a real and positive difference in so many people's lives.

I am so very very sorry. I just logged on to Patti's FaceBook page to see why I couldn't find her Fairy Garden and I feel like I have been punched in the stomach. I was hoping to meet Patti one day - I live in Halifax, not THAT far away. But I felt like I knew her. We met in Fairyland and played that and also Scrabble together. We had a standing joke when one of us really clobbered the other in Scrabble - "Wow, you knocked my socks off! " So when I went to Ireland I brought back a pair of Irish lucky socks and sent them to her. This past birthday (my birthday is Dec 20, 3 days before hers) I received a pair of Foxy socks and a beautiful handwritten note. There were times when she didn't go on FaceBook for awhile, and I knew she was sick. but she never told me how sick. I have lost a good friend, despite the fact that we never met in person. Cindy
