Johanna (Reid) Scott
North Sydney

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our much-loved wife, Mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and good friend, Johanna (Reid) Scott, age 68, on Friday, August 23, 2019, at the Halifax Infirmary, with her husband and children by her side.
Born in North Sydney on May 16, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Richards) Reid. Johanna worked for many years at National Sea in North Sydney and the Alder Point Fish Plant. She will always be remembered for the child care provided to family members and friends.
She will be forever missed by the love of her life and best friend of more than 50 years, her husband Nelson, her daughters Tanya (John) White, Tamara (Cyril) Haley, Sydney Mines, and son Nelson Jr. (Tammy), North Sydney. She also leaves behind her loving grandchildren Johanna (Brad), Kevin (Miranda), Tyler (Ginny), Brandon, Hannah (Sean), Bhreanna (Kyle), and Christopher, her great-grandchildren Landen, Owen, Blake and Elias, who have many special memories of time spent with her, her sisters Paulette Powers (best friend), Ruth (Rick) Rioux, Mary Lou Reid, Geraldine (Robert) MacKinnon, brothers Percy (Carol), Richard (Monique), Gord (Sherry), Dave (Jenny), sister-in-law Gloria Reid, , special nephews Troy MacAdam and Kenny Francis, her special little friend Carrissa, and the Seymore family, her extended family in Port Aux Basques.
Besides her parents, Johanna was predeceased by sisters Florence Murphy, Joan Pink, brother Joe Reid and brother-in-law David Powers.
Cremation has taken place. Her family will receive visitors on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, from 7-9 pm in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday at 11 am with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiating. A luncheon will follow at the North Sydney Fire Fighters Club. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome

A Mother’s Hands

Hands that rocked the cradle
From the moment of our birth
Their tender touch remembered
By those still here on Earth
Soft as silk those hands
That taught us how to pray
Banishing childhood fears
They soothed each one our way
Those hands caressing us
Did more than words can say.

Mom’s hands were gentle
They’re missed so very much
We would give the world to feel once more
Their warm and tender touch
Those hands were full of comfort
Now they lie to rest
But memories hold them close
To the ones they served the best.
