Helen H. Clarke (Boutilier)
Little Pond

It is with profound sadness, yet gratitude for a long life, that we announce our mother’s passing on Sunday, November 10, 2019.
Mom was born in Little Pond on May 31, 1920. She was one of twelve children born to the late Howard and Nellie (Bonnar) Boutilier. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
After attending Provincial Normal College in Truro, NS, she taught the elementary grades at Little Pond, Alder Point, Florence, Mill Creek and Bras d’Or schools.
She is survived by her sons Ralph, Johnson Rd., Wayne (Rejean Basque), Moncton, and Cameron, at home, and daughter Elaine, Johnson Rd. Also surviving is her sister-in-law Josephine Clarke, Florence. Mom leaves behind several dedicated nieces and nephews, as well as, a host of wonderful friends and the caring neighbours of Little Pond.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John Clarke, sisters Florence (William) Campbell, Theresa (Nathan) MacNeil, Grace (Sam) Peck, Ann Irene (Frank) Uraski, and Dorothy (Douglas) Fillier, and brothers Everett, Ralph, Bernard, Edgar, Dean and John.
Visitation for Helen Clarke will be held in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines, on Thursday, November 14, 2019, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral Mass celebrating her life will take place Friday at 2 pm in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Flowers are welcome, or a donation in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice. A reception will be held in the Florence Legion, following the Mass. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com

To The Clarke Family:
I would like to send my sincere condolences at this difficulty time. It seemed like I knew your mother through Jeanne, great friends with Jeanne, and how she loved dogs, like I do. She is resting now in Heaven and not suffering anymore. May God, your friends and relatives surround you with their loving arms. Rest in Peace Helen, you have completed your work on Earth.

Dear Ralph, Wayne, Elaine and Cameron, My sincere condolences on the loss of your mother. She is the first person who greets us on the day of our birth, and there begins a life-long bond that is only broken by death. My heart is with each of you today, as you get ready to say goodbye to her.

Helen was the wonderful lady way up there in Nova Scotia who I never met--but feel like I've known her forever. I reside in Indiana, USA. I was caregiver of a very dear friend of Helen and her family until his death in 1996. So, at that time, I sort of adopted Helen and have remained in contact for these past 23+ years. My sincere sympathy goes out to Helen's family at this truly sad time in their lives. And to Helen: rest in peace, my precious penpal. I shall truly miss your lovely notes of encouragement and friendship.

My deepest condolences to the Clarke family. I was one of the students Mrs Clarke taught in Alder Point. Although I haven't seen her in many years, I can't imagine she had changed from the lovely lady I knew. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time,

Cameron and Clarke family, I remember meeting your mom, the night before "finger wave", what a lovely lady she was.
No words could ever take away your pain in the loss of your mom, but know that prayers are going your way to help you through your journey called grief.
When you look to the sky and see the brightest, twinkling star, know it's your mom letting you know she's home.
Cameron know you will be in my thoughts and prayers. This holiday season remember all the happy Christmas's you shared with your mom over the years
