Joseph Wallace March

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, brother, grandfather uncle and friend to many, Joseph Wallace March, age 75. Joe passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Florence on May 31, 1944, he was the son of the late James and Edith March.
Joe was employed at Nickerson’s Fish Plant until his retirement. He enjoyed playing guitar, and singing Hank Snow songs. He loved camping, where he would gather with friends and family. He cherished his very special friends Dave and Doreen Lewis, Sydney Mines, and Dave and Paula Jessome, Bras d’Or.
Joe leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, Helen (King) March, and his grandchildren Austin and Madison March. He also leaves behind his brothers; Gilbert, Ontario, and Roddie, Sydney Mines, and sisters Shirley Edwards, Florence, Sadie MacNamara and Joan Abbott, both in Ontario, brothers-in-law Kevin King (Roseanne), Ontario, and James King, North Sydney, sisters-in-law Ann MacLennan (King) Waye, Millville, and Paula March, Sydney Mines, and Special nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his precious son Alonzo Joseph March, mother and father-in-law Millie and Jack King, sister Rhona Felix, brother Allan March (Seanie), sisters-in-law Cecilia March, Thora March, and brothers-in-law Aloysious Abbott, Joseph Edwards, Douglas Felix, Ricky March, George MacNamara, Dewey King, Sonny King, and Butch King.
Special thank you to Dr. Andrew Wawer and Wilda Hyde, and the nursing staff of 4th and 5th Floors, Northside General, for the love, care and compassion they showed.
There will be no visitation. A celebration of Joe’s life will take place on Thursday, November 28, 2019, at 10 am in St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at

If roses grow in Heaven Lord,
Pick a bunch for me,
And place them in Joe’s arms,
And tell him they are from me,
May the words of love flow gently,
And whisper so you can hear,
I love and miss you dearly,
And forever hold you near.
