Catherine “Lorraine” Woodfine
Sydney Mines

It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend, Lorraine Woodfine, age 80, on Saturday, November 30, 2019, at the family home in Sydney Mines.
Born in Sydney Mines on July 1, 1939, Lorraine was the daughter of the late John and Rosina MacIntyre.  She is predeceased by her brothers, Brian and Joe MacIntyre, sister Mary MacDonald and her beloved son Brian Woodfine.
Lorrraine leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Tommy Woodfine, her brothers Barry and Johnny “Fox” MacIntyre, her children, Mary (Paul), Wilfred (Debbie), Sheldon (Lana), Paul (Letha); nine grandchildren; Brian (Megan), Ashley, Catherine, Robert, Justin, Spencer, Rebecca, Alyssa, and Michael, five great-grandchildren; Mya, Alexa, Landen, Ayla and Joshua.
Lorraine worked at the Northside Community Guest Home for a number of years.  She was also honored to serve as the past president of the Cape Breton North PC party and actively involved most of her life. For many years Lorraine sang in the choir at the Holy Family Church, and was a lifetime member of the Sydney Mines Pensioners Club and loved going to fun night.
One of Lorraine’s greatest pleasures was socializing and sitting with her friends chatting, knitting, and laughing. Her door was always open to everyone.
Lorraine’s courageous battle did not sway her determination or stop her from living life to the very end.
Lorraine’s closest friends Pat and Jane will be forever appreciated for all their ongoing love and support over the many years.
The celebration of life will take place Wednesday December 4, 2019, at 10 am in  Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines with Fr. James Oliver officiating.  A reception will follow at the Sydney Mines Seniors and Pensioner’s Club.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com

I am so sorry for your loss. I only met Lorraine this past summer and she had a magnetism that drew people to her. She was a kind caring and special lady who made you feel very welcomed and truly happy to see you. Your loss is great but your memories are many, I'm so happy I got to meet her. She's at peace now.

Dear Uncle Tommy and Woodfine cousins,
It was so sad to hear the passing of my Aunt Lorraine. She was a great example of what a human being should be , loving her family and caring for others and always having that great laugh. Sharon and I are glad that we got to Cape Breton and saw her in the summer of 2017.
I will always have great memories of my visits to Cape Breton and staying with Lorraine and Tom. She will always be in our hearts and we are thinking of you all at this difficult time. God bless and thoughts and prayers.
Love Kevin and Sharon

Tommy, Mary Charlene, Wilfred, Sheldon & Paul..... I'm sure Lorraine is sitting now with Da, Mary, and Joe - along with Brian too. Dad's probably teasing her calling her "Granny Boggy!" Maybe too Nana & Papa are organizing a card game.... Paul

To our dear and beloved friend Tommy and Woodfine Family
It is with deepest sadness that we learned of Lorraine's passing away. Our condolence to the Woodfine clan.
We will certainly missed all the good times we spend with her and all the "kitchen" politics that went through.

Dear Woodfine family, we were so sorry to hear about Lorraine’s passing. I hope the memories of her laughter and smile give you comfort at this time. Though we are not (all) related by blood, you will always be family to the Shaws. I’m sure she and Roddie will share some laughs in heaven. Thinking of you all....love and hugs, Rick and Kathryn Shaw and family.
