We regret to announce the passing of Albert Yates, age 76, on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Howley, Newfoundland on February 24, 1943, he was the son of the late Scott & Myrtle Yates (nee Woolridge). He was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, and worked as an engineer for Marine Atlantic for 36 years.
He is survived by his partner Mary Andrea, his children Kerry (Laurie), Nicki (Phil Adam), Sheri (Mark Aikens), Shelly (Geoff Ashford), AJ (Amanda) and their mother, Caryl, his two sisters Phyllis Stratton & Kitty (Edgar Stratton) and his grandchildren Kieran, Abbey, Josh, Cole, Sydney, Evie, Jeremy & Elliott. He is fondly remembered by Mary’s children, Eddie, Debbie, Tricia & Darlene.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his infant brother, Kerry.
A memorial service will be held at Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St Sydney Mines on Tuesday,  January 7, 2020, at 11 am with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.

Remembering cousin Albert with fond memories....especially his smiles and teasing when we met in the hallway of the then “Amalgamated Regional High School” in 1959....me late...as usual....(a family trait...I am told..!!)

My thoughts are with you all at this time.
Uncle Albert was always a pleasure to see on my annual trips to NL and Sandy Lake. 'Hey, little buddy' was his constant greeting when I saw him. Always a smile and happy as happy can be. I will miss him.

My condolences to everyone for your loss of uncle Albert. Uncle albert always made Tracy and I feel warm, and welcome every time we saw him. One of my last memories was speaking with him around last summer when Phyllis was with me and we called and uncle Albert, and he made the effort to speak with Phyllis, it is a memory I hold dear, along with the many others. Phyllis sends her condolences, and is going to dearly miss her brother whom she was very fond of. Bless each and everyone one of you. We will donate to Alzheimer Society NS, with much love Phyllis, Tracy, Wayne Aaryn and Norman. XO

Sincere Sympathy to Albert's family. Albert was a wonderful gentlman whom we have know for many years. Albert worked with my husband Harry at Marine Atlantic.God Bless you all. He will always be missed in our household as we have many fond memories of him over the years.
