Bernard “Blake” Marsh
Mill Creek

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, step-father and grandfather, Bernard “Blake” Marsh, 86, on Friday, February 7, 2020, at home.
Born in Mill Creek on July 21, 1933, he was the son of the late Bernard and Liza (Harrietha) Marsh.
Blake was a man who enjoyed the outdoors, loved to walk, go fishing and hunting, and all winter you would find him and his beloved wife, Helene, out on the ice, fishing, something he really loved. In the spring, he could be found planting his vegetable garden, and when harvested, he shared with all. A quiet, unassuming man, with a kind word or helping hand for everyone. He worked on the “Great Lakes” as a young man, and later worked in the coal mines.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Helene (LeBlanc, Kempt) Marsh, his son Doug Marsh, his wife Glenda and their children Adam and Ashley Dawn, as well as our shared children; Judy (Greg) Jobes, Danny (Nadine) Kempt, Rick (Carol) Kempt, Elmer (Hoss) (Florence) Kempt, and Jackie (Alex) Kempt, and their families, who loved him dearly.
Blake is also survived by his sisters Ann Marie (late George) Burton, Mona (late John F.) MacDonald, Carmelita (late Stan) Peck, Bernadette (Philip) Theriault, Sandra (John) Allen, Carol Anne (Joe) Gielen, special sister and brother-in-law Doreen and Cyril “Boots” Redmond, brother Michael (Corella) Marsh, brother-in-law Bill Bagnell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Madonna Bagnell, brothers Carl and John Willie Marsh, and his first wife Mildred Morgan Young.
Cremation has taken place. His family will receive visitors on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at 10 am. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 am in the funeral home, with DLM Diane Kempt officiating. There will be a light lunch at the Bras d’Or Pensioners Club, following the service. Donations in Blake’s memory may be made to Palliative Care. Words of comfort may be forward to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
