Gloria Boutilier, 69
Boularderie

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria Boutilier, on Tuesday March 3, 2020, at the Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility. Gloria spent her final days in peace, surrounded by the love of her family and friends and the incredibly caring staff of Wentworth Court.
Born in North Sydney August 23, 1950, and raised in Bras d’Or, Gloria was the daughter of the late Gordon and Genevieve (Walker) Howley.
Gloria spent the vast majority of her career as the secretary at Dr. T. L. Sullivan Junior High in Florence. Gloria loved her work, and took immense pride in a job well done. Surely there was no better person to be the face and voice of the school; she was kind and competent and went above and beyond her job description to help students and staff in her years at the school.
Gloria was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Bras d’Or, and a supportive and active member of the community. Gloria’s happiest moments were unquestionably those spent with family; she lived for get togethers and the laughter and memories that came from those times.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband Remi, her son Gerry (Jayne) Boutilier, and daughter Jennifer (Patrick) Ramaglia. Gloria also lives on in her four grandchildren, Lynden, Ivey, Winifred and Emily, and her siblings Eileen (Keith) Robicheau, Walter (Lynn) Howley and Reggie (Phyllis) Howley. Also surviving are Gloria’s nephews Darren, Richard, Gordie, Shane and Lawrence, her nieces Lisa, Kayla, Karen, Tracy, Sherry and Shannon, and her brothers-in-law Kevin (Glenda) Boutilier, and George Landry.
Besides her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her sister Sandra Landry, uncle Arnold Howley, brother-in-law David Boutilier, and father and mother-in-law Gerald and Rita Boutilier.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Wentworth Court, including Dr. Coakley, for the love and care that was extended to Gloria during her time with you, and to her family during her time in Palliative Care.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church in Bras d’Or on Friday, March 6, 2020, at 10:30 am with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating.  A reception will take place in the parish hall, following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gloria’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com

“There is one thing that Alzheimer’s cannot take away, and that is love. Love is not a memory-it’s a feeling that resides in your heart and soul.”

Remi and Family,
Gloria was indeed the welcoming face in ‘76 when TL opened. But she was much more as she helped make it work. She was an excellent student, a valued employee, and someone we were proud to call friend. She was indeed a person who got things done, while always a gracious lady. While we are many miles apart, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Remi, Gerry, Jennifer:
Where do you start to express your feelings for someone who was your working "partner" for 20 years? Gloria was the ultimate support , not only for administration, but for all staff and all students. Many the times she would offer little nuggets of information which would help when dealing with difficult situations. We will miss you Gloria but you are now in a special chair greeting people at the heavenly gate. God bless.

Gloria's family,

So sorry to hear of Gloria's passing! She held the key that held T L Sullivan running smoothly. She was always the smile that you first met when you entered through the doors of the office! She was a dear friend and coworker! Retirement did not bring her many years of happiness! Hopefully, you can find some comfort in knowing she is in a better place! May God give you all peace and comfort!
