It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dave, age 86, in the early hours of Saturday, September 26, 2020. He passed away peacefully at the Northside Community Guest Home, in the company of his family.
Dave had a full and adventurous life. After being born and raised in Sydney Mines, he joined the Airforce at age 17, and retired at 40, after23 years of service as a celebrated Airplane Technician. During that time, he fell in love and married his first wife Beverly, and had five children. He then moved back home to Sydney Mines several years after in 1981, started life anew, and met, fell in love and married his second wife, Pamela Bailey, and gained 2 more amazing children.
He worked as Commissionaire until retirement. He celebrated 34 years of sobriety until his passing. He was involved in his community with the Kiwanis and Meals on Wheels until his retirement.
Dave is survived by his children Fred Bailey, Marg Bailey, Judy Islip, David Charlesworth, Diana Brown, Susan Charlesworth Snow, and Danny Bailey. He also leaves behind his sister Anne Howard, as well as 9 grandchildren, and many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents George and Lucy, his wife Pam Bailey, sister Rose Marie Bailey, brother John Bailey, sister Agnes Bailey, sister Renalda Howard, and brother Arthur Bailey.
There will be no visitation or funeral. There will be a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association. Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com

Dear Pam and family and Dave's family,Please accept my condolences on Dave's passing...I was sad to see his face on the obituary page but looking at his face brought back fond memories of when he worked at the hospital..he and I had lots of laughs and I will remember him as being one of the nicest persons to work with..know I am thinking of you at this sad time...

He was an amazing man and made me feel at home when I was there ...

To the entire Bailey and Charlesworth families. I never met Dave Bailey, but my mother was his first cousin. It is not until you see the pictures that you realize the family resemblances. My mom was Lillian Bailey, Bill Bailey's daughter. Please accept my deepest condolences on his passing. Having also served in the military, it is with pride that I read of his service. May he rest in peace.

Thanks for all your condolences. he was an amazing man and the best dad you could ask for. i will cherish the visits i had with him just before his passing for the rest of my life. i miss you dad and love you lots. you are always in my heart.
