Henry David Barrie
Florence

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Henry David Barrie, age 86, on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Florence on August 15, 1934, he was the son of the late George T. and Cecilia (Cantwell) Barrie.
Affectionately known as “Da” or “Papa” by his family, Dave lived a full and rich life. He married the love of his life in 1955, and enjoyed 65 years of marriage. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He worked as a coal miner with Devco for 37 years. He was known as a prankster who loved to play tricks on all the children. He also loved hunting, fishing, fiddle music, and spending time at his cottage in Washabuck. He was a Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He had a love for all animals, and enjoyed walks with a faithful dog at his side.
Dave leaves behind his devoted wife Theresa (Steffens), and his children Wayne, Doreen (Cameron Buffett), Stephen, and Beth (Walter Serroul). Also left to mourn are his sisters Bernadette Whitten and Ann Quinn, twin brother Mac, 13 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Kathy (Martin Tompkins), brothers Nathaniel, Adrian, and Gerald, and sister Adelaide Clancy.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com

Dear Theresa and Family,
So very sorry to hear of Dave's passing. He was such a nice man. Mom loved meeting Dave at the post office because he always made her laugh.
