It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alexander Garson Forrest, 63, of Ocean Street, Sydney Mines. Alex passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was the son of the late William and Bertha (Leblanc) Forrest.
Alex is survived by his devoted wife, Kim (Pyke); his son Alexander (Sandy) (Nancy); and his daughter Natasha (Richard). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Andrew, Brady, Brayden, and Austin, who brought him endless joy.
He is also survived by his siblings: Catherine Bradley, Maisie Weeks, and Douglas (Tessie) Forrest; as well as his in-laws Leroy (Nancy) Pyke, Joan (Ernie) Bond, Brenda (Tom) Foster, and Tracy Pyke. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Alex was predeceased by his sisters Sandra Basso, Annie Mae Tremblett, Mary Penny, Sharon Forrest, Barbra Forrest, and Brenda Lee Forrest, as well as his father- and mother-in-law, Leroy and Clara Pyke.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of 4B and Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre or the MS Society.
Memorial Service & Celebration of Life
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Sydney Mines Fire Hall, with a celebration of life to follow.
