It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alyson King Jenkins on the evening of March 3, 2025, at Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Alyson was born on September 17, 1947, in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. Throughout her life, she embodied love, kindness, and devotion and was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was married to her late husband, Sheldon Jenkins, with whom she shared many happy years.
Alyson dedicated many years to working with Camps for the Blind, where she and Sheldon offered support to countless individuals, building lasting friendships along the way. She had a passion for reading, particularly books about the Amish, and enjoyed connecting with friends through online games. Alyson was known for her ability to listen with compassion and understanding, offering a safe space for others without judgment.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Queenie King; her sister, Donalda (Dorian) Billing; and her beloved husband, Sheldon Jenkins.
Alyson leaves behind her daughter, Shelley (Seth Savitsky); her grandchildren, Dorian Carter, Marina Carter, Conor Foley, and Caelin Foley; as well as many friends who will forever remember her warmth, generosity, and quiet strength.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Juanita MacLean, the caring staff at Miner’s Memorial Manor, and Treva Jardine for their unwavering support during this time.
Alyson’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will never be forgotten.
