It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Amy Chislett (Chissy) Carbery, announce her sudden passing on June 22, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Though Amy was never blessed with children of her own, she took immense pride in helping raise the children in her life—especially her cherished niece, Mary-Emma, and her beloved nephew, Alexander. Over the years, she also opened her heart and home to several international students, many of whom became like daughters to her.
Her most loyal companion over the past four years was her beloved dog, Oreo, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally.
Amy and her husband, Mike, shared many joyful years camping together, forming lifelong friendships along the way. She loved crocheting, baking, and doing puzzles in her spare time—and she would never turn down a good game of cards or bingo.
Amy was a remarkably strong, kind, and fearless woman who never hesitated to lend a hand to those in need. Her generosity and resilience touched everyone who knew her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Mary-Ann and Danny Ginter; her loving husband, Michael Carbery; her brothers, Danny, Buddy, Lloyd, and Neil; and her sisters, Elda, Annie, June, Audrey, and Wiannie.
Amy is survived by her devoted sisters, Helen and Peggy; her brothers, Allister and Blair; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry her memory in their hearts.
She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines. A service celebrating Amy’s life will follow at 3:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
