It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Anne Marie Jessome, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left us peacefully on October 29th, surrounded by love. Under the direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, a celebration of life will be held at Holy Family Parish, Sydney Mines, on Monday, November 3rd, at 11 a.m. a reception will follow.
Born in 1945 and raised in Sydney Mines, Anne Marie was the beloved daughter of the late George Arthur Morrison and Ann Rita (MacKinnon) Morrison. She was the beautiful bride of our late father, Ronald Murray Jessome, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and steadfast devotion. She was also daughter-in-law of the late Louis and Muriel Jessome, for whom she had deep affection and respect.
From childhood, Marie carried a lighthearted spirit that never faded. She had a joyful heart that found beauty in the smallest things and goodness in nearly everyone she met. Compassionate and sensitive, she felt deeply for others and was quick to offer her love and support. She loved to reminisce, sharing stories of her family, her treasured Nana MacKinnon, and the many aunts, uncles and dear cousins who shaped her early years.
A proud coal miner’s wife, Marie faced life’s challenges with strength, grace, and quiet determination. Her generosity and warmth touched all who knew her.
In her later years, she found comfort and friendship at Alderwood Guest Home, where she was not only well cared for but truly loved. Our family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Hillside nurses and caregivers for the compassion, dignity, and affection they shared with her each day.
Marie balanced old-fashioned charm with modern curiosity—faithfully keeping her handwritten calendars and notes while eagerly exploring new technology until recently when her eyesight made it difficult. Fiercely independent, she valued her freedom above all and lived each day with resilience and faith. She often said she thought she would live forever, and in many ways, she will.
She is survived by her loving children, Rhonna Marie, Paula Renee, and Ronald Timothy, who remain forever proud of her courage and dignity. She leaves behind her adored grandsons Joshua Edward, Faaron Rayne, and Samuel Murray, and her cherished granddaughter Baylee, her “Bee”, whose two beautiful daughters, Sydney and Sadie, brought their great-grandmother immense joy.
Marie is now reunited with her dearly beloved youngest daughter, Amy Raylene, whose memory she carried tenderly throughout her life.
Though our hearts are heavy, we are comforted by the grace of knowing that our mother is now free—flying high above the angels, surrounded by light and love. Her spirit, strength, and boundless love will live within us always.
Fly high, our sweet mother,
your gentle heart at rest.
You’ve earned your peace, your freedom,
your place among the blessed.
