It is with immense sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our dearly beloved husband, father, and uncle, Archibald Matthew Pyke.
Born and raised in Sydney Mines, Archibald — lovingly known as Buddy — worked as a coal miner for 38 years in various mines throughout Cape Breton, and later held the position of security guard at the Prince Mine in Point Aconi. Always remembered for his kind and giving nature, Archie made many close friends over the years who loved him dearly. He always had a smile and a little joke for anyone he came in contact with.
Archie is survived by his wife, Catherine Pyke (Coll), and his daughter, Cheryl Pyke (Port Hawkesbury). He was predeceased by his mother, Catherine, his father, Archibald Pyke Sr., and his brother, Ernie Pyke (Ontario). He was also a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews.
With respect to the wishes of Archibald and his family, Cremation has taken place there will be no wake or church service.
Donations in Archie’s memory may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
“You are greatly loved, and you will be missed each and every day. We shall be together again.”
