Arnold F. Davis

 On Sunday, December 5, 2021, while surrounded by his family and friends, Arnold was called home.

Born in North Sydney on September 17, 1947, Arnold was the son of the late Gerald and Mildred (MacDonald) Davis.

Arnold retired from Public Works & Government Services Canada in 2018, with 40 years of his career focused in the Lands and Titles Department with Cape Breton Development Corporation (Devco).  He prided himself in the many great relationships he had with work colleagues over the years.

Arnold was a kind, caring, compassionate person who was loved by many, always putting other people before himself and was truly the backbone of his family.

He loved Cape Breton and the beautiful nature it provided him.  He could often be seen around town with Anne on their daily walks, as well as travelling and exploring the island.

Arnold is survived and remembered forever by his wife, the love of his life and best friend of 52 years Anne (Sutherland), sons Duane (Tammy), Blair (Heather), and Scott (Tami) & daughter Kimberly.  Also, brother Jerome (Kathleen) Davis, sister Carolyn (Mike) MacNeil, sister in-law Yvonne Davis; in-laws Brenda (Hector) MacLean, Colleen (Brian) MacNeil, Roddie (Bonnie) Sutherland and Linda Sutherland.

He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, whom he cherished dearly; Emily, Ryan, Michaela, Evan, and Erica as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Hartland and Wayne, infant sisters Theresa and Veronica, in-laws George, Bessie & Frank Sutherland; niece Theresa Vandermeulen and nephew Christopher MacLean.

We want to extend a special thanks to Dr. Hassan, Dr. Aires and staff at Willow Hall in Dartmouth, as well as Dr. Ferguson, Dr. Alexander Wawer and staff at 4 West in the Northside General Hospital.

Visitation will take place on Thursday December 9, 2021 from 2-4 &7-9 pm at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home in Sydney Mines. The funeral Mass will be heldFriday at 10am in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines. In lieu of flowers, donations in Arnold’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice.
