It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of our beloved mother Beatrice Donovan, on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the age of 92, at Buchanan Memorial Hospital. Born on November 30, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Viola (Cann) Williams.

In her earlier years, she enjoyed vacationing with Dad and her boys and maintaining her beautiful flower gardens and shrubs. She took great pride in keeping her home and yard immaculate. Mom loved to bake and cook, and you can rest assured that you never left her home hungry. In her later years, she enjoyed her trips to the Casino, where she made many new friends.

Surviving are her four sons, Patrick (Dawn), Spencer (Catherine), Winston (Audrey), and Gary (Sherry); “chosen daughter“ Linda Donovan. She is also survived by brother Bill Williams and sister Blanche Williams; 8 grandchildren,14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Newman Donovan, partner Max Royal, brothers Albert, and Ralph; sister Audrey; daughter-in-law Leigh Donovan and Joanne Boutilier; great-granddaughter Ainsley Donovan.

Special thank you to all the attending doctors and nurses at the CB Regional Hospital, and especially grateful to the Buchanan Memorial Hospital staff for their compassionate care of Mom in her final days.

There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held at St. Peter’s Church in Ingonish Beach on Thursday, May 25, at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Jonas Uwaezuoke officiating. Burial will follow the service in St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery Fund or a charity of your choice.
