Bernadette McIntyre Obituary

Bernadette McIntyre

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Bernadette McIntyre. The daughter of William and Peggy Ryan, Bernadette was born in Southside Boularderie on August 28, 1945 and died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

At the young age of 19, Bernadette became a wife to George McIntyre and a mother to 5 young boys. They spent the earlier years of their marriage in Ontario, then returned home to the family farm in Southside Boularderie. Bernie and George often enjoyed wintering in Florida and gathering with their friends and family.

Sewing, singing, and baking were among many of Bernie’s passions. Her teddy bears and cinnamon rolls were talked about and enjoyed from one end of the island to the other. Bernadette was a selfless caregiver to her husband George, raised her children, and played a significant role in the lives of her grandchildren. She was an exceptional woman with an infectious laugh, wicked sense of humour, and a taste for the finer things in life, from her fashion sense to her home sense.

Bernadette is survived by her sons George (Petra), Ben, Paul, Michael (Lori) and William, as well as her beloved grandkids and great-grandkids; her sibling and in-laws; Edie MacInnis, Shirly (Peter Harrison), Wilma McNeil, Alex (Mary Anne Ryan), Paula (Wayne Currie), Cindy (Bob MacLean) and many nieces/ nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband George, and siblings; John, Dewy Myers, Chris and brothers-in-law Roland Ingraham, Sandy MacInnis and Bill MacNeil.

The family will be forever grateful for her son Ben, all the doctors, nurses and homecare staff who played a major role in her care. She's been reunited with her partner in crime Anne Ryan at the pearly gates and will be missed by all “sort of thing like ya know” - Bernadette McIntyre

At her request, there will be no visitation or funeral. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at 2 pm in St. Joachim Cemetery, Southside Boularderie. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
