The family of Doris (Betty) MacMullin, of Beaver Cove, sadly announce her peaceful passing at home on October 16, 2025.
Born on January 1, 1931, in Prince Edward Island, Betty was the daughter of the late Jennie MacDonald and Harold Campbell.
She attended Iona Federated High School and graduated in 1949 from the Provincial Normal College in Truro. Betty dedicated over 30 years to teaching and was a proud and active member of the Nova Scotia Teachers Union and the Retired Teachers Association.
A devoted parishioner of St. Andrew’s Church in Boisdale, Betty was involved in many church and community activities throughout her life. Her faith, compassion, and quiet strength touched all who knew her.
Family meant everything to Betty. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, and neighbours. She especially enjoyed beach outings, sleepovers with the grandkids, and quiet afternoons in the sunroom solving crossword puzzles and cryptoquotes while fiddle music played in the background.
Betty will be deeply missed by her eight children: Gregory (Valerie), Wilma (Doug) MacLeod, Allison (Maxine), David (Bernice), Joanne MacIsaac, Clem, Robert, and Joey (Mandy); her eight beloved grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her brother Edward (Dianne) of London, Ontario.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Michael; her brothers Ralph and Lorne (in infancy); her sister Ella; her son-in-law Wayne; grandson Neil MacLeod; and nephew Mark Parent.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to dear family friend Donna McCracken, the caregivers from County Homemakers, and the VON nurses for their care and support.
Visitation will be held at St. Andrew’s Church, Boisdale, on Friday, October 24th, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 1 p.m., with a reception to follow at the Boisdale Fire Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Andrew’s Cemetery Fund, the Sydney Mines Food Bank, or a charity of your choice.
