It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful death of Betty Ann Stewart on May 28th at the Northside Community Guest Home. Betty was born in Sydney Mines on December 26, 1937 to Charles and Josephine (MacNeil) Edwards. She was a life-long resident of Sydney Mines until these past two years when she resided at the Guest Home where she was cared for very well.
Betty was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, and her faith was important to her throughout her life. She was a Rebekah in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for over 50 years, attending Caan Rebekah Lodge in Sydney Mines and Jubilee Rebekah Lodge in Glace Bay. Betty was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed seeing her Leafs and Jays, in person, when visiting siblings in Ontario. She loved going to the beach. The summer days at Groves Point are favourite memories of her grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her loving husband, Robert. They were blessed to have been married for more than 64 years. She is also survived by their children; Charlene (Bernie), Roberta (Mark), Corrie (Rizzie), Lynda (James) and Jason Edwards who she thought of as a son. She was Grammie to Shannon, Alicia (Jason), Scott, Mitchell (Courtney), Mikayla (Nick), Brianna (Nate), JT and Robert. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren; Olivia, Destinee and Lainey Jane. Betty is survived by her last remaining sibling, Ruth Hughes.

Dr. Kenneth MacLeod officiating. Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or a charity of one’s choice.
John 11:25-26: Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die”.
