Brian Khan Obituary

It is with deep love and cherished memories that we announce the sudden passing of Brian Samuel Khan aged 54 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on April 25th, 2026. Brian was born in Clakabad, Pakistan on May 2nd, 1971, to the late Samuel and Shakuntala (Assu) Khan. Along with his family Brian moved to Dartmouth, NS at the young age of 4 years old where he resided until he met the love of his life Paula Jessome and eventually made the move to Cape Breton where they raised Brian’s pride and joy, their son Samuel Murray Pir Khan.

Brian will always be remembered for his kindness and his eagerness to provide service to others. He was an amazing chef and took great pride in preparing meals for all to enjoy. He worked in the cooking industry at various locations for over 25 years until most recent years when he learned the trade of carpentry and worked as a laborer.

His greatest role in life was the privilege of being a “Dad”. He was a deeply hands-on father, devoting countless hours to playing, teaching, and simply being present in his son’s life. Some of his happiest moments were spent side by side in laughter and shared activities, where his patience, energy, and love were always evident. He took immense pride in his son’s accomplishments, celebrating each milestone with genuine joy and unwavering admiration. To his son, he was not only a parent but a constant companion and guide, and his legacy lives on in the man his son has become.

Brian had a great love for family, especially his nieces and nephews. He made sure to let them know how much he loved them and would tell each of them they were his favorites but with a warning not to tell the others. Their wish was his command as he could often be found playing dress-up, singing songs, telling jokes and riddles, building snow forts and teaching them to play chess. Brian enjoyed camping with his family in Englishtown and looked forward to the Saturday night bingo games, late night campfires and long days at the beach. He had a love for poetry and blessed us with many poems that will be cherished forever. If you knew Brian, you would know he always went out of his way to help others, so it was only fitting that in death he became a tissue donor. His son Samuel is a tissue recipient so Brian would be honored to be able to give back.

Left to mourn this great loss are Brian’s siblings; David (Nargis) Khan, Nasreen (Michael) Gray, Kenneth Khan, his sister-in-law Rhonna Jessome and brother-in-law Tim Jessome and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides his parents, Brian was predeceased by his brothers Derrick Khan (Geraldine), Eric Khan (Rosaline), his sisters Nazlie Khan, Roohi Khan and Sameena Khan, his mother and father-in-law Ronald and Marie Jessome and sister-in-law Raylene Jessome.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of J.M Jobes Funeral Home with a “Celebration of Life” to follow on May 16th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 160 located 703 Main Street, Dartmouth NS. (downstairs entrance)
