Brian (Hoss) Mills, 68

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved brother Brian, on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his brothers and sisters.

Born in Sydney Mines on August 1, 1953, Brian was son of the late John and Maydell (Jessome) Mills.

To anyone who knew Hoss, he was a fun person to be around, and you were sure to have a good laugh. Hoss was known to love a good game of Tarabish or Poker. One of his favourite things to do was hang out with his friends Tommy Francis and James (Killer) Bungay.

Brian comes from a large family who have beautiful memories to cherish forever about their brother.

Brian is survived by his brothers; Charlie, Terry, PEI, Doug (Heather), Winnipeg, George (Rennie), Harley (Mary), Donald (Jenny), and Billy, all from Sydney Mines, and Rob (Lisa), Oshawa, Ontario, and his sisters Gail LeBlanc (Frankie), Catherine (Kay) Forrest, Sydney Mines, Ann Henwood, Lynn Laroque (Mike), Elliot Lake, and brother-in-law Bill Ryan, Halifax. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Loretta (Hubba) Ryan, sisters-in-law Linda and Florie, brothers-in-law Edward (Skinny) Forrest, Willson Hardy and Dave Romaniuk, nephews John and Kenny, and friends Lenny O’Toole and Bill Jerrett.

Special thanks to Dr. Michel McKeough, the nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Ward at the Regional Hospital. Also, special thanks to the staff and residents of the Miner’s Memorial Manor in Sydney Mines.

A private funeral service will take place at a later date.
