It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and sister, Christina “Tina”
Mae (Boyde) Crews. She peacefully passed away on August 7, 2025 surrounded by her three
loving daughters at Miners Memorial Manor in Sydney Mines.
Tina was born on December 2, 1929 to her late parents, John Tupper Boyde and Lena (Young)
Boyde.
Tina devoted her life to her family, raising her four daughters and providing a second home to
her extended family. One couldn’t visit Tina’s house without enjoying a warm meal, lots of
laughs, and a heart full of love. A lover of classical country music, Tina would fill the home with
the sweet sound of her humming and singing along to her favorites.
Tina is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Donna (George) Bond, Kathy (Dale) Robinson,
and Wendy (Sheldon) Bailey; her son-in law, John Podetz; sister, Beverly Robin; her
grandchildren, Troy (Vicki) Podetz, Dawn (Dan) Hardy, Nick (Angela) Demarco, Jeff (Kathleen)
Bailey, Chris (Jen) McGean, Ryan (Roslyn) Bond, and Cory Bailey; her grandson-in-law, Chris
Stockley; her 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
After 31 long years of waiting, Tina and her loving husband Gerald have been reunited in
heaven. Tina was also predeceased her sisters, Marie Boyde, Henrietta Horne, Mary Bonner,
Anastasia MacNamara, Betty Stewart, Lorraine Burton and Pearl Miles; her brothers, Dan and Ronald Boyde; her children,
Linda Podetz and Gerald Crews; her grandchildren, Dion Demarco and Sherry Bond; and her
great-grandson, Dylan McWhirter.
Our family would like to extend our sincere gratitude and thanks to Peter Doyle (aka. Dr. Peter)
and the staff at Miners Memorial Manor.
Visitation will take place at Holy Family Parish Hall on August 11, 2025, from 10:30 AM –
11:00 AM. A funeral mass, officiated by Father Agnus MacDougall, will follow at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
“There'll be no mansions waiting on the hill
With crystal chandeliers
And there'll be no fancy clothes for you to wear
Everything I have is standing here
In front of you to see
All I have to offer you is me”
