It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Chris Edwards, “Leckie,” at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, on July 11th, 2024; born in Sydney Mines on October 24th, 1973, he was the beloved son of Lesina Edwards and the late Alex Edwards
“Leckie” was a hard worker who worked for Cape Breton Island Housing, was a fisherman, and did many carpentry jobs throughout his career. In his early days, he enjoyed playing baseball, hunting, fishing, and playing cards, and he loved a good meal. He will be missed for his friendly demeanor and kind ways, and he loved a good joke.
He is survived by his Loving mom, Lesina; his lifelong caring partner, Amanda Whitty; his children Jonathan, Dylan, Devon, Dallas, Darrian, Ryan, and Aiden; his Granddaughter Ophelia; and his on-the-way grand baby, Lily. Also left to mourn are siblings Sherry, Wayne, Romane, and Juanita, many nieces and nephews, and special friend Jason Williams. Chris was predeceased by his father, Alex Edwards, and his sister, Kimberly.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Cape Breton Regional for the care they gave to our son/brother and our entire family during this time.
Cremation has taken place; a Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at JM Jobes Funeral Home on Monday, July 15th, 2024, from 2-4, with a service at 4 pm.
