PYKE, Clara Rhodena – Sydney Mines
It’s with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Surrounded by her loving family Clara Rhodena Pyke (Nicholas) passed away peacefully at the Cove Guest Home on Saturday, August 12th, 2023, at the age of 83
The Lord answered her prayer to return home to Heaven. Clara was born in Florence on April 7th, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Florence Nicholas.
To remember and celebrate her life, she leaves behind her five children Joan (Ernie) Bond, Brenda (Thomas) Foster, Kim (Alex) Forrest, Leroy (Nancy) Pyke, Tracy (Jody) Groves, and her dear niece Wendy (Kenny) Bradley. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Kyle Bond, Tanya Onica, Laura Daborn (Foster), David Foster, Sandy Forrest, Natasha Forrest, Kenneth Pyke, Kyle Pyke, Mason Groves, Logan Groves, and Kody Groves. Along with 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Thomas (Joan) Nicholas, sister Deloris Harding along with sisters-in-law Janice McInnis and Bonnie Nicholas.
Besides her parents, Clara is predeceased by her husband, Leroy Pyke. Granddaughter Julie Ann Pyke, great-granddaughter Kelsey Pyke, three brothers Charles, Jackie, Steven, and two sisters who died in infancy.
Clara will always be remembered for her love of a good game of cards, and her passion for crafts and baking. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Cove Guest Home.
In keeping with Clara’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, August 17th at 11 am in Carmen United Church, Sydney Mines, with Rev. Nick Philips officiating. Donations in Clara’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
