It is with deep sorrow that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, and Poppy, Clarence “Red” Dove, who passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on February 19, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born in Sydney Mines, Clarence was the cherished son of the late Richard and Bessie Dove. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Yvonne (Boutilier), and their loving children: Clarence (Patricia), Russell (Coleen), Troy (Sherri), Kim (David), Melvin, and Tracy (Mike). He is also survived by his brother Melvin (Patsy) and sister Diane. He was predeceased by his brothers Alster, Richard Jr., June, Wilfred, and Lloyd, as well as his sisters Judy and Florence. Clarence leaves behind a legacy of love through his 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Clarence spent his career working in the fish plant, where he met the love of his life, Yvonne. Their bond was one of deep love, devotion, and family values, which they instilled in their children. Just days before his passing, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary—a testament to their unwavering partnership.
Beyond his family, Clarence’s greatest passion was baseball. As a talented pitcher, he played for over 25 years, collecting numerous trophies and medals. His proudest moments came when he played alongside his family. Known for his quiet strength, kindness, and sharp wit, Clarence had an unforgettable sense of humor, always ready with a joke—even in his final days, bringing smiles to those around him.
Clarence will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A graveside service will be held in the spring, with details to be announced at a later date.
