Cynthia MacPherson Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cynthia Marion MacPherson (nee Knight), who passed away peacefully on October 3rd, 2024, with her loving husband, Freeman Joseph MacPherson, and her daughter, Pamela MacPherson, holding her hands as she passed on.

Born on October 19, 1957, in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, to Margaret and Herbert Knight, Cynthia cherished her parents deeply, and we find comfort in knowing they are reunited once again. She is survived by her devoted husband, Freeman, with whom she shared 45 years of marriage, after meeting in 1975 and marrying in 1979. Together, they built a life filled with love and adventure as they traveled across Canada, living in places such as Fort McMurray, Sarnia, St. John, Mississauga, and Halifax before settling back home in Cape Breton.

Cynthia is survived by her two daughters, Joanne Morse (Grace) and Pamela MacPherson, and her cherished granddaughter, Caleigh MacPherson. She also leaves behind her dear brother, Bryan Knight, and his wife Fran Knight; her nephews Chris Knight (Michelle), and Paul Knight (Sandy).

A registered nurse by profession, Cynthia was the one her family always turned to for advice and comfort, even after her retirement. As a mother, she was my rock, the person I called when everything was sad, and she always knew just what to say to lift my spirits. Her absence leaves a deep void, and my father is lost without her.

Cynthia had a vibrant curiosity and loved painting, poetry, researching her family’s genealogy, and enjoying science fiction movies and books. However, her greatest joy came from meeting new people. She had a unique gift for connecting with others and made friends everywhere she went, with her welcoming and open-hearted nature.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Services will be held at Jobes J M Funeral Home, with a wake on Friday, October 11th from 4–7 p.m. A church service will follow on Saturday, October 12th, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Parish Church.
