It is with great sadness and broken hearts we announce the passing of Darlene (Haley) Silver, aged 68 who passed away peacefully on March 31st, at Ocean View Continuing Care Centre in Eastern Passage. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends in her final moments.
Darlene was born on October 31st 1956, in Sydney Mines, to Eileen (Howard) and John Haley. She was a graduate of Memorial Composite High School in Sydney Mines and then moved to Alberta before settling in Eastern Passage where she was a proud resident for many years.
Darlene took great pride as a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She worked as an Accounts Receivable Specialist, where she demonstrated her excellent problem-solving skills as well as her wonderful people skills, retiring from Kent building supplies in 2021.
Darlene loved caring for her beloved dogs Molly and Foxy and her favorite time of the year was Christmas when she would decorate her house and enjoy having company over. During the summer, she could always be found in her garden. She took great joy in spending time with her loyal friends Shirley Silver and Roberta Robinson along with her many sisters.
She is survived by her son Matthew Silver (Krista); Step-Grandson Max Leadley, Sisters Joan MacNeil (Sid), Patsy Cleary, Deborah Haley (Fred) , Lorraine Campbell (Ward) , Leslie Haley (Donnie) , Michele Haley, and brothers, Sheldon Haley (Nancy) , Cyril Haley (Tamara), ex-husband John Silver and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Darlene was predeceased by her parents Eileen and John Haley and brother-in-law Lee Cleary.
