Dayton Watkins-LeRoy- MacLean Obituary

Dayton Watkins-LeRoy-MacLean

January 12, 2004 – May 5, 2021

It is with heavily broken hearts that we, the family of Dayton, announce his sudden passing at the ripe age of 17. Born in North Sydney on Jan 12, 2004, he was the son of Terrylynn MacLean (Marc) and Raymond LeRoy (Ashley), and the adoptive son of Caroline and Robert Watkins.

Also left to mourn are his siblings Bryanna (Blake), Julia (Elliot) Nevaeh, Payton, Daniel, Jimmy, Victoria, Emma, and Kevin. He is also survived by his Grandparents Carinia and Joe MacLean and predeceased by his Grandparents Emmaline and Donny LeRoy. Dayton had many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that loved him dearly.

Dayton’s life has abruptly ended May 5, 2021. To those who knew him it was as if a shooting star passed by.

Dayton was an incredibly talented, well spoken, smart young man. He was into art, music, photography and vehicles. Dayton never ceased to amaze those around him, with his level of intelligence and his ability to learn quickly. His scope of interests were incredibly wide, he could draw realistic images, took to learning guitar very quickly and knew lots about vehicles. Dayton was knowledgeable when it came to almost anything.

Spending time with Dayton, people knew there would never be a lackluster moment. He always had something smart or funny to say. Dayton spent lots of time with his family. His sister (Bryanna) has fond memories driving with her little brother while singing songs. One-night, Golden Slumbers came on and they sang in Sync “Once there was a way to get back home”, Dayton only ever wanted to get back home to Cape Breton with his family. Dayton as a young boy got to see many places with the Watkins family. Because of them he got to see a lot more than most people ever will, trips to Florida and Kentucky to name a few. Although he had many good memories during that time, Cape Breton always beckoned to his heart to come home.

Dayton loved all his family dearly.

Cremation will take place. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

A special thank you to his dear friend Khenedhi for fundraising for the memorial expenses, as well to those who donated and helped support us during this time.
