Deborah Marsh Obituary

Deborah Elizabeth Marsh

Sydney Mines

It is with deep sorrow that we, the family, announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Deborah (Debbie) Elizabeth Marsh, born August 23, 1954 (67), in Sydney Mines.  Debbie passed peacefully at Northside General Hospital on April 16th, 2022.

Debbie is survived by her loving son, Joey Strickland (Jennifer), and the light of her life, her granddaughter, Aleah. Also left to mourn is her mother, Pearl Parks, her constant companion and sister, Diane Campbell, and her sister-in-law, Paula Campbell, as well as her stepchildren, John (Carly), Tracy (Henry), Kim, and their children whom she loved dearly.  She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews - Denise, Bobby, Karen, Paula, Pam, Donna, and Donald and their families, as well as many cousins, the foster children entrusted to her care, and the father of her two beautiful children, Joe Strickland.

Debbie was predeceased by her loving husband, Leonard Marsh, her daughter, Diana Michelle Strickland, her brother, Robert Campbell, her sister, Shirley Campbell, and by her grandparents Minnie and Philip Campbell.

Besides spending time with family, especially Aleah and Diane, Debbie loved baking, cooking, camping, travelling, and her T.V Bingo on Wednesdays.  Debbie was always the first to step up whenever needed, likely carrying one of her famous coconut cream pies, and hosted many family gatherings and back-yard campfires.  There was no one that could bake like Debbie and a visit always ended with her sharing some delicious love from her freezer when you left.

Debbie had a special light that nothing could dim. To know Debbie was to love her, and she returned that love to everyone she knew.

There will be no visitation by request, a graveside ceremony will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center Patient Care Fund. Arrangements are entrusted to J.M. Jobes Funeral Services, Sydney Mines. Online condolences may be left for the family by visiting www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of the Cape Breton Cancer Center, Dr. Kholsmith, and the nurses and staff of 4 West, Northside General Hospital, for the care and compassion given to Debbie in her final days.

“In life there is light, and none shined brighter than yours.  Your light will live on in our hearts always.”
