Dolores Harris Obituary

Dolores Ida (Marks) Harris
July 29 1955-November 18 2024
Age 69

As the sun rose on November 18th, our mother’s hard-working hands came to rest as she was called home to heaven, surrounded by all of her children, her beloved husband, her son-in-law John, her sister Paulette, and brother-in-law Eddie. We are sure her angel baby was waiting for her at the gates of heaven.

Mom was born on July 29, 1955, to Chesley and Edna (Gear) Marks of Florence. She spent her entire life in the town where she grew up, where she met and married the love of her life, Lloyd, and raised their five children.
She leaves behind her one true love, Lloyd Harris, and her pride and joy, her children Lisette (John), Lloyd (Tayler), Christopher (Natasha), Melissa (Javier), Billie Jean (Dylan), former daughter-in-law Valene and former son in law Ushan. Nothing was more precious to her than her three granddaughters, Keisha, Taya, and Chessa-Lei, and five grandsons, Parker, Jace, Arlen, Ezra, and Chesley. As well as three bonus grandchildren, Avarie, Mia, and Ella.  Mom’s heart was so full of joy to know she had one more granddaughter on the way.
Much like us, mom was blessed with a house full of siblings. Leaving behind sisters Bernice (John Angus) MacPhail, Edie (Peter) Poirier, Paulette (Eddie) Phillips, Junell (Nikko) Prashad and her brother Alexander (Monique) Marks. She also leaves her sisters-in-law Sara Musgrave, Tina (Frank) Carey-Sacco, Schayne (Donnie) Earle and brothers-in-law Bert, Kenny (Tina) Harris, Donald (Colleen) Anderson, and 3 Aunts Kay Gear, Gertie Slade, Eleanor Marks, Helen Marks, Vinnie Marks and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edna and Chesley Marks, sisters Barbarann Anderson and infant Mary, and her brother Billy. She was also predeceased by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jim and Tina Harris, brothers-in-law Joe Arsenault, Russell Macdonald, Charles Harris, Clifford Cavanaugh, and Fred Musgrave, sisters-in-law Marie Harris,Patricia Cavanaugh and Debbie Harris, and special nephew Brian Harris.
After dad’s retirement they had the time to enjoy the finer things in life, trips to the cabin in Margaree, fishing, watching the hummingbirds, tending to her beautiful garden, nature walks, Face Timing with her kids and grandkids, assembling puzzles, shopping missions with her girls and daddy’s money and her favourite was watching many spectacular sunsets. Mom also loved children and spent a lot of time caring for her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank, Dr. Alex Wawer, Dr. James Bentley, Dr. Stephanie Scott, NP Arlene Billard, and the nurses from 5A of the Halifax Infirmary. The most special thanks to the nurses of 4 West at the Northside General Hospital; your kind and gentle ways gave Mom and us so much comfort, and that will never be forgotten
