Donald Gregory Hyde, Sydney Mines - Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You’re loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

It is with broken hearts that we the family of Donald Hyde announce his peaceful passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on the evening of Thursday, October 28, 2021. Donnie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was an avid Leafs fan, lover of loud music, horror movies, cooking, and outdoor sports. Nothing was more important to him than his family. Donnie was the son of the late George and Jessie (Norman) Hyde. He was one of the founding owners of Vision Heating and Ventilation until a back injury caused an early retirement.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Wilda (Cantwell) who he called his ‘angel on earth’; daughter; Jennifer (Mark) Quinn, and grandsons Logan and Lucas, the apples of his eyes; sisters; Judy (Henry) DiPersio, Lori (Bobby) Ryan, Patricia Leyte; brothers; George (Kim), Billy (Rose); sisters-in-law; Judy (Dennis) Harrietha, Aljean Taylor, Judy Hyde, Cindy MacIntosh; brothers-in-law; Bill (Maureen) Cantwell, Denis Astephan, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Besides his parents, Donnie was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law Bill and Jean Cantwell; sister; Kathy Astephen; brother; Doug; sisters-in-law; Darlene Cantwell and Claire Hyde; brothers-in-law; David Taylor and Danny Leyte.

We want to thank his doctors for such wonderful care, especially Dr. Andrew Wawer, Dr. L Szabo, and Dr. K. Khodadad. There will be no visitation or funeral service per his wishes. Cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be forward to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
