It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother and sister, Donna Healey on Wednesday March 23, 2022,  at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in Sydney Mines on July 22, 1939. Donna was the daughter of the late Peg (Ferguson) and Leo Palmer.

Donna was a loving person who enjoyed nothing more then to welcome visitors to her home, and enjoyed sharing a cup of tea with friends, neighbors and family, when they stopped by.

She was a dedicated nurse, graduating from Sydney City Hospital in 1960, practicing in both Halifax and on the Northside, where she was an OR Nurse until she retired.

Donna was also a very active member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. She sat on many committees of the church and was always the first to volunteer in any way she could.

She treasured her monthly lunches with fellow nurses, as well as her lunches with committee friends from her church.

Donna was a former member of the Cape Breastoner Dragon Boat Team and volunteered for many years in the community reaching out to those in the community who suffered from the disease.
Donna was also devoted member of the Kinnettes Club for many years.

Donna was a loving mother to her son Russ (Kim) Sydney Mines. She also treasured her sister Jan Wyman, Yarmouth and brother Eric, Sydney Mines.  She is also survived by her step grandson JD.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, John, parents Peg Palmer, Sydney Mines and Leo Palmer, Halifax as well as Lillian and Lionel Healey, North Sydney

We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the An Cala Palliative Care Unit for helping Donna in the end with comfort and dignity, as well as the ER staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. We will be forever grateful.

Visitation will take place at J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines on Sunday, March 27th from 2-4 pm. A celebration of Donna's life will be held Monday, at 2 pm in St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Sydney Mines.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the An Cala Palliative Care Unit or the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Building Fund.

Wherever a beautiful soul has been there is a trail of beautiful memories.
