Doreen Anne MacKillop

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Doreen Anne MacKillop on June 23, 2024.

Born on July 17, 1941, she waw the daughter of Roderick and Agnes MacKillop, Millville, N.S.  She is survived by sons Vernon (Cindy) MacKillop Coxheath, N.S. and Harold (Laurie) Collier Ontario.  She is also survived by loving granddaughter Emma MacKillop and grandson Justin Collier.  She is pre-deceased by both parents and most recently her sister Linda Crossen.

Doreen spent many years of her life working as a cook in various restaurants throughout Cape Breton.  But the great love of her life was animals.  She had a great affinity for animals of all kinds, and it wasn’t uncommon for her to rescue and care for an animal in need, adding it to her already extensive pet family.  Some of her happiest days were spent working at the Baddeck Veterinary Clinic in Baddeck. Doreen will be laid to rest with her parents in a private graveside ceremony surrounded by her family.  She will be missed.
