Doris Jessome Obituary

Doris Lydia Jessome

It is with broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Doris Lydia Jessome on Oct 24, 2023, at home with her loved ones.

Doris was the daughter of William and Ester Tremblett, born Oct 4, 1956. She was predeceased by her loving son Jason Pius, father William, Sister Barbara Ann, brother Terry, and special granddaughter Madison Wilson.

She is survived by her loving husband Blair, brothers Ernie, Billy (Judy), Freddie (Sherrie), and Kevin, sister Brenda (John), sister-in-law Michelle and three special daughters Elisha (Nena), Amy (Danny), Tracey (Shawn) along with six special grandchildren, Bryson, Cody, Quinton, Casey Lynn, Patrick, and William.

Doris brought love, compassion, and laughter into the lives of many children, whether as a foster mother or working with special needs children as a teacher assistant, which she did for 32 years; she loved organizing many fundraisers to help support these special families.

Doris married her teenage sweetheart Blair, who supported her in all her endeavors, and together, they created a loving home for any child who entered their lives. In 2020, Doris retired and loved being able to spend more time with Blair, Her daughters, grandchildren, and friends.  She so looked forward to her many travels with special friends Bernadette and Michael.

Doris had many friends, and wherever she went, she was sure to run into someone for a hug and a chat, especially during her many trips to the mall. She always enjoyed spreading sparkle into everyone's life, even on their clothes or the floor. Her shine will never dull but will live on in our hearts.

The family would like to thank the many medical professionals who provided excellent care over the last three years, especially Dr. Eugene Ignacio, Dr. Crica De Clemente, the doctors and staff at the Cape Breton Cancer Center, the Cape Breton Hospital Palliative Care with a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Peter Poulos, his assistant and Julia Penny and the VON.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Cantre or Cape Breton Hospital Palliative Care.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 2 to 5 p.m., at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
