Duane Warren Obituary

We are heartbroken to share the news of the sudden passing of our sweet son, brother, and friend, Duane, who was taken from us too soon. He was loved deeply by his parents, Chrissie and Darren, his sister Emily (known to him as Bubbles), and his maternal grandmother Agnes.  Sharing in his loss are paternal grandparents Frank and Juanita, uncle Nicholas (Marie), John (Crystal), and Tracy (Darrell), as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Waiting for Duane in Heaven is his beloved Grampie, Koby with his hockey stick ready for a game, and his Nanny Doyle (Emma) with a batch of his favorite chocolate chip cookies, as well as many other relatives who are waiting for him.

It didn’t take much to make Duane happy; you could easily get a heart-warming hug or a huge smile from a warm chocolate chip cookie fresh from the oven. Duane is known for his kindness and unwavering loyalty to his friends. He was a man of few words but would surprise you with his quick one-liners that made you laugh. You knew he was up to something when his eyes were shining and he gave you that cheeky smile, which showed his dimples while his beautiful curls were crushed under a stocking hat, even in the summer heat. He was always ready to help everyone he met, especially if it meant working on a machine of any kind. At 3 years old, Duane fell in love with a lime green Kawasaki Ninja bike and wanted to sit on it all the time. He could be seen running through the field after Matthew, trying to catch a ride on whatever he was driving, the 4-wheeler, the Skidoo, or a bike. And so he learned to ride his first dirt bike at 4 years old, and through his short 21 years, he never lost his passion for these machines. His other love was fishing; he would spend hours either in his boat or standing on the wharf. It was never about the amount of fish he caught, but more about being on the water.

In high school, he decided he wanted to be a carpenter and could be found building things in the backyard with his Dad. For the last 3 years, he has been with Bretoba Contracting.  He loved working for Beaudie and alongside the crew, who treated him like family. His work family and friends meant a great deal to him as he spent a lot of time with them. He was always ready to go for a drive, fiberglass a boat, build a cabin, or just hang out with them.

He was his father’s pride and joy, his mother’s whole world, and his biggest champion was his sister. We are left with a giant-sized hole in our hearts that we will do our best to fill with cherished memories, but he is and always will be irreplaceable.

Cremation has taken place with J.M. Jobes Funeral Home. A celebration of Duane’s life will take place at St. Peter’s Parish Church in Ingonish Beach, Friday August 15th, 2025, at 2 pm. Visitation at 1 pm prior to the service. At the family's request, there will be no gathering following the service.

“Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in the hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.” - Jamie Anderson
