Raymond (Duck) Bailey

Raymond (Duck) Bailey, 76, of Sydney Mines passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Monday, May 24, 2021 with his wife and daughter by his side.

Born in Sydney Mines on November 9, 1944, he was the son of the late Stanley (Motto) and Helen Bailey. He was raised in Sydney Mines and worked at Marine Atlantic for 36 years as a stevedore until his retirement.

Duck is survived by his wife, Beatrice; daughter Raylene (David) Jessome, son Joe (Tammy) MacNeill; grandchildren David (Shawna), Kelsie (Timothy), Sasha, Luke (Ashia); his great granddaughter Kinsley.

He is also survived by his sister Phyllis (Adrian) O’Toole and brother Sheldon (Wendy) Bailey; his brothers in-law Danny (Linda) Young, John (Judy) Young, Tom (Margaret) Young; his sisters in-law Barbara (Alex) Penny, Joanne (Steven), Lisa (Mike) Courtney, Cathy Young, Nancy Young, Annie Mae Bailey, Sharon Bailey; and his many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by Raylene’s mother, Sister Bailey; a son, John in infancy; his brothers Stanley (Tuller), Harold and Vincent; his sisters Margaret (Sis) and Adeline; his mother and father-in-law Beatrice and John W. Young; his brothers-in-law George and Archie; and his sisters-in-law Judy and Theresa.
