Duncan MacKinnon Obituary

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a very special man. He was a father, brother, uncle, and, most importantly, Poppa. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he will be missed most by Marcus, Jillian, Wynter, and Darra.

Duncan came from a large family with very close connections. He was predeceased by his parents, Jimmy Duncan MacKinnon and Margie Bonnar. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Freddie, Archie, David, Clarence, Clayton, and Colleen, as well as his son-in-law, Danny, whom he loved like a son.

Two very special people left Duncan's life too early. His daughter, Jody, whom he loved deeply. He was proud of how courageously she fought her final battle and missed her every day. He also missed his brother David, who was more than just family—he was his best friend. They worked together on their fishing boat and in the woods. They were always together, and everyone used their names interchangeably. Duncan and David were both known as two of the most helpful and easy-going guys around.

Duncan is survived by his daughter, Crystal; his grandchildren, Marcus, Jillian, Wynter, and Darra; his sisters, Flossie and Johnenna; and his brothers, Malcolm and Oliver. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, for whom he always seemed to have a crisp $20 bill. His nephew Mitchell held a special place in his heart, and they enjoyed working on projects together after Duncan retired from fishing.

Duncan was a friend to all and had many good friends in return, especially Louis, who always checked in on him. He will be remembered as a good man who would help anyone.

Cremation has taken place, and following Duncan's wishes, there will be no formal service. A small gathering to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
