It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Eileen F. Hawley, age 86, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, at Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Neil’s Harbour.
Eileen is survived by her children, Everette, Wayne (Fern), and Darlene (John), 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters (Gert and Evangeline), and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Tom Whitty and Rachel Donovan (Whitty), she was predeceased by her husband Charles Hawley, two sons, James and Andrew, and one infant son, Michael. She was also preceded by her brother Thomas and sisters Edna, Barbra, Leona, and Cecelia.
In her younger years, Eileen worked for Ingonish Motel and Island Inn, where she made many fond memories. She always enjoyed playing cards and a good game of bingo, bringing joy and laughter to those around her.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nursing staff, and Buchanan Memorial for their care and compassion shown toward Elieen. Also, a thank you to Highland Manor Neil’s Harbour for the wonderful care she received within the last year. We deeply appreciate each and every one of you for treating Elieen like your family.
Cremation has taken place under the care of JM Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A graveside service will take place at St. Peter’s Perish in Ingonish Beach on Saturday, August 3rd, at 11:00 a.m.
