It is with deep love and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Gracie, who passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, at the age of 95.

Born in Florence, Nova Scotia, Betty spent her life rooted in family and community, later residing in Sydney Mines, where she was well known and dearly loved.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She had a deep love for her family and friends and truly enjoyed her social life. Her home was always warm and welcoming, filled with laughter, conversation, and love. Betty had a special gift for making everyone feel at ease, and she was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Her legacy lives on in the values she passed down and the memories we hold close, and the love she instilled in each of us.

Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Gracie; her daughter Janice; her son Eric; her grandson Thomas; her great-granddaughter Brittany; and her great-grandsons Justin and Timmy.

She was also predeceased by her sisters: Shirley Tobin (Bernie), Helen Gerrow (Dodi), Annie MacDonald (John), Kay Squares (Willie), Barbara McLean (Richard), Naomi Imrie, and Veronica Imrie.

She is lovingly remembered and survived by her children: Linda Todd (Tom), Richard Gracie (Linda), Barbara Gracie, Tom Gracie, Ann Douglas, and Kevin Gracie; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.

Betty’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.

A funeral mass to celebrate Betty’s life will be held on Saturday March 28th,2026 at 11am in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines , with reception to follow in Holy Family Parish Hall.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Northside General Hospital.
