It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and sister Ella Mae Voutier April 12th 2022 at the An Cala unit at the Regional hospital following a battle with Sjogrens Disease.
Born in Sydney Dec.3rd 1962 she was the bonus daughter of Archie and Nora (O'Connor) MacKinnon of Alder Point. Ellie is survived by husband Gary son Greg and granddaughter Zora step sons Gary (Tracey ) Kevin (Cindy) Chad (Carrie) and their children ,All of whom she adored, Sisters Cathy (Anthony) Laffin, Patricia (Bryce) Swan and brother JD (Alexis) MacKinnon and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by parents Archie and Nora MacKinnon, mother in law Irene Voutier, sisters in law Barb and Margaret.
In 1998 Ellie, Gary and family moved to Alberta for 13 years where she worked at Dow Chemicals' making many lasting friendships, people who she continued to keep in touch with. Returning to CB in 2010 she worked at Northside Community Guest home in dietary department becoming friends with co workers, residents and staff until retiring in 2018 due to ill health.
After retirement Ellie and Gary loved nothing more than taking long drives in the country and stopping to take photos of wildlife and the countryside, she had an eye for capturing amazing photos.
A special Thank You to Dr John Kirkpatrick who cared for her during her struggles with her disease and to Dr Alexander Wawer who for the past few years has taken over that roll. Also to the Palliative Care Team ICU staff for their love and support during her admissions to hospital over the past months and to VON and home Care staff who came to her home.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Wednesday April 20th from 6-9 pm at JM Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St. Sydney Mines. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
