Elsie (Daley) Young

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for her life, the family of Elsie Young announces her peaceful passing on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the age of 89. Born in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Elsie was the daughter of the late Claris (Ennion) and William Daley.

Elsie was predeceased by her loving husband and partner of 62 years, David (Dave) Young; her siblings Benny and Jean; and her cherished grandson, Jason Young. She is survived by her sister Doris, as well as her loving children: Doreen (Mike), Wayne (Wendy), Brent (Brenda), and Laura Lee. She will also be dearly missed by her 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Elsie was a calm and gentle presence, devoted in her own quiet way to the people she loved. Nothing brought her more pride than preparing meals for family and friends. Her home was often filled with the warm smells of freshly baked bread, homemade treats, and the comfort of meals made with love. Christmas buffets—lovingly prepared and eagerly anticipated—became a treasured family tradition. Cooking for her family was her love language, a wholehearted expression of devotion and a legacy that will be remembered with deep tenderness.

In her later years, Elsie was cared for with profound respect, dedication, and affection by her children. They ensured she remained in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the same steady love she had always shown them.

As per Elsie’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the VON nurses, home-care providers, Dr. MacKeough and Louise, and her private care workers. Your kindness, compassion, and support made it possible for Elsie to remain in her home, just as she wished. Your care meant more than words can express.
