It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Emanuel Frank Leamon on December 22, 2024, at the age of 74. Emanuel was born in Isle aux Morts, Newfoundland, to William and Ethel (Skinner) Leamon. He was the beloved husband of Marie Denise (Richard) Leamon for 49 years.
Emanuel’s journey through life was not always easy, but through hard work and determination at the age of 15 he started working on various vessels fishing on the open waters and ending his career lobstering in Area 27. Because of that determination he built a fulfilling life for himself and his family. Over the years, Emanuel developed a deep passion for racing—whether on snowmobiles, ATVs, or in cars he so enjoyed the friendships he shared along the way. Emanuel was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. These activities were central to his life in both Cape Breton and Newfoundland. Generous and kind-hearted, Emanuel was always there for family and friends, offering help when it was needed most.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Ethel, as well as his sisters Joanne Leamon, Violetta Savoury, and brother Gerald Leamon. Emanuel will be greatly missed by his family, including his daughters, Colette (James) Yetman and April (Chris) Leamon, and his four granddaughters, Erica, Mia, Ava, and Sophia. He is also survived by his brothers, Lorenzo (Clara), Guy (Michelle), Scott (Cathy), and Aaron (Tracey)Leamon; his sisters, Maxine (Edward) Buttery, Patsy (Claude) MacDonald, and Roxanne (Donnie) Shea; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
We would like to extend a Thank You to all of his Doctors and Nurses from the Regional Hospital to the Northside General. A Special thanks to the Dialysis Nurses For your patients and comfort towards him.
In keeping with Emanuel’s wishes, there will be no formal service. A private cremation will take place, and his ashes will be scattered at a later date by family and friends in Newfoundland.
